James E. Black Cadillac as an independent new car dealer is authorized by General Motors to sell the GM Protection Plan and/or MRP.
Buying a new car or truck is a major investment. To protect it, consider GM Protection Plan's MAJOR GUARD for coverage of virtually every electronic, electrical and mechanical part of your GM vehicle.
WHAT IS MAJOR GUARD?
MAJOR GUARD is a GM Protection Plan that covers virtually every electronic, electrical, and mechanical part of your GM vehicle, including failures caused by ordinary wear and tear. That means, if a covered component on your GM vehicle breaks or wears out, it's covered by MAJOR GUARD. A copy of the plan is available at Sample Plan.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF MAJOR GUARD IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
Generally, if you want to drive worry-free, MAJOR GUARD is a good choice. This comprehensive plan covers just about everything. And, when you consider that today's GM vehicles have about five times the computing power of the on-board guidance system used in the Apollo moonshot, good coverage could be a smart investment.
WHAT SPECIFICALLY DOES MAJOR GUARD COVER?
It's as simple as this: If it's not on the very short list of what's not covered, it's covered! While a complete list of all the parts and components that are covered by MAJOR GUARD would fill several volumes, a partial list includes:
•Engine•Transmission•Transaxle•Front wheel drive assembly•Rear wheel drive assembly•Fuel system•Cooling system•Air conditioning•Electrical systems•Computers•ABS module•Steering •Front and rear suspension•Electric motors•All component seals and gaskets•Radio, speakers, and power antenna•Wheels•Cruise control•Seat adjuster and tracks•Wear and tear failures•Rear window defogger
WHAT'S NOT COVERED BE MAJOR GUARD?
Maintenance services (such as engine oil changes), physical damage, glass, lenses, sealed beams, lightbulbs, and tires. Components not installed by the factory including cellular phones, theft deterrent systems, or air conditioning (if factory installed they are covered). Exterior deterioration of bumpers, sheet metal, body panels, and parts. Carpet, hinges, trim, upholstery, convertible or vinyl tops, moldings or bright metal. Air and water leaks, wind noise, odors, weather-strips, squeaks, rattles, paint, rust, carburetor, throttle body assembly (except injectors), contaminated fuel system, exhaust system, catalytic converter, brake rotors, brake drums, shock absorbers, and batteries. Everything else is covered!
The plan length and miles starts at the date of the GMPP purchase and at the odometer reading at time of purchase.
Example #1
Example: On January 1, 2008 you purchase a GMPP on your eight (8) month old Corvette (Original GM In-Service date was April 1, 2007) with 8,000 miles on the odometer. You purchase a 72 month / 72,000 mile GMPP Major Guard. Your GMPP plan would expire on January 1, 2014 or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Example #2
Example: On January 1, 2008 you purchase a GMPP on your 35 month old Corvette (Original GM In-Service date was December 1, 2005) with 35,000 miles on the odometer. You Purchase a 36 month / 36,000 miles GMPP Major Guard. Your GMPP Plan would expire on January 1, 2011 or 71,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Example #3.
Example: On January 1, 2008 you try to purchase a GMPP on your 47 month old Corvette (Original GM In-Service date was December 1, 2004) with 9,000 miles on the odometer. You cannot purchase a GMPP because your vehicle is outside the original GM factory time/miles period. GM’s FIRM RULE is that you cannot purchase a GMPP on your vehicle unless it is within the 3 year / 36,000 miles (4 year / 50,000 miles for Cadillac and Select 2006 & Newer Buicks and Hummers) original warranty time/miles period.
